Tyngsboro dancers wow at Disney
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Members of the Centerstage Dance Academy in Tyngsboro became stars of their own Disney World show recently when they entertained resort guests at the Waterside Stage in Downtown Disney.
The group traveled more than 1,200 miles to take part in the Disney Performing Arts program. The dance academy, under the direction of Katherine Coughlin, Melanie Coughlin and Allyson Coughlin, drew a large crowd of Downtown Disney guests with their impressive dance technique and crowd-pleasing numbers.
This was the group's second visit to the resort with the Disney Performing Arts program. In addition to their performance, the group participated in the Disney Performing Arts "Disney Dancin' Workshop," learning from a professional Disney dancer techniques to help maximize their rehearsal time and deliver a focused performance.
Centerstage Dance Academy appears on MTV's MADE
TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. --The recital curtains closed at the end of May but the dancers of Centerstage Dance Academy are still dancing about with joy after a whirlwind of excitement has kept the studio on its toes since the beginning of 2008.
In March, the award-winning studio was contacted by MTV to participate in their hit TV show, "Made." The show that depicts high school students struggling to achieve their dreams chose Centerstage's dancing director, Kathy Coughlin, to help "coach" a young lady from Chelmsford to become a model. "It was a team effort," says Kathy. "The Centerstage Dancers offered support and friendship as the "Made" student attended ballet classes to work on balance and confidence for her debut on the catwalk!"
Excerpts from The Lowell Sun
"Ballet instructor Justyn Thoren said the reasons for Coughlin's success are threefold; staying current in the field by attending seminars regularly, getting involved in her students' lives even beyond the studio's walls and now, having a beautiful facility."
"I believe she's so successful because she listens to people," Thoren added, calling the new facilities "a morale booster" for dancers."
"She (Coughlin) said it is important to her that students be good role models and successful in life, not just dance, after they leave her studio."
"Graduates of the studio's program have gone on to dance with the Fordham-Alvin Ailey Project and the Brenda Buffalino Tap Dance School in New York City."
Excerpt from The Boston Globe
"...Steven and Bridget L'Ecuyer of Tyngsborough wait for their class to begin, inspired by the TV show, "Dancing With the Stars," the middle-aged couple has been taking ballroom dance classes from Coughlin for three weeks and they are impressed with her easygoing teaching style. "The dancers all have different skill levels, and she (Kathy Coughlin) has patience, no matter how good or bad you are," said Bridget." "She makes you want to dance."
On other days, there's ballet, modern, tap -- even hip-hop.. Kathy quotes "We don't just teach them how to dance but how to present themselves," she says. "It gives these kids confidence." READ FULL ARTICLE>
User Rating: 5 out of 5 StarsHi everyone, I danced at Centerstage for 15 years, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Not only is everyone friendly and helpful, it's a community. I had many opportunities to switch studios, but I loved it there. Kathy is the best teacher, she knows everything inside out. The instructors teach students new steps, but they also give background information to the step, such as what the words mean in other languages or who invented the step. As I said, I couldn't have asked for a better experience and my 15 years there were better than I could have imagined. The location is also conveniently located right off route 3 so its easy access. Hopefully you will enjoy your experience as much as I did. - by user SydMack44

Centerstage Dance Academy is the best! The teachers are excellent. You walk away from there knowing that your money is well spent. I come from a background of dance. We have tried most studios in the area. Nothing can even come close. Look no further! - by user, JD
