Centerstage Spectacular: Holidays In The City & The Nutcracker

[This performance is filmed in-studio]

Filming Week: Monday, December 8 - Saturday, December 13

Filmed during dancers regular class time. No outside class time is required

What Is Our Holiday Show?
This is an in-studio (filmed) performance of short routines that our dancers will learn in their regular classes each week. The show is themed each year with dances and songs inspired by The Nutcracker and also from a popular holiday movie or theme. This year our first half will be inspired by the 100th year Anniversary of the Radio City Rockettes and titled - Centerstage Spectacular - Holidays In The City!

Once the dances have been learned; we film them against a green screen during class time and edit it into a holiday movie for everyone to enjoy!

Still not sure how that works; check out our movie trailer from a previous season below.

What to Wear/Bring & How To Prepare

  • Leotards/Dancewear:

    • Please have your dancer wear their regular class attire to dance during filming week but with a few considerations…

    • If your dancer has a thinner-strapped leotard (here is an example) and/or a leotard without an attached skirt – please wear that. Otherwise, we'll tuck them in to the costume (as best as we can) or they can change in the bathroom if they feel comfortable doing so.

  • Tights:

    • Since we are filming, we’d love to get everyone in pink or tan tights (last year's recital work great). No black tights, please. We have tights in all sizes available at the desk if needed.

  • Costumes:

    • Holiday Show costumes are provided by the studio. Dancers will receive and wear their costumes on the day they film, in class. These costumes are just borrowed for the holiday show performance. Dancers will not be taking these costumes home.

  • Male Dancers:

    • Please bring or wear black pants or shorts to class if possible. We do have some at the studio, but sizing and length can vary. (Our Saturday Tutu & Tumble does not need to bring black pants)

  • Hair:

    • Your regular dancer bun (high or low). Shorter hair should be pulled back and away from the face. Our staff can always help with buns!

  • Makeup:

    • Optional, but can be worn if desired. Think of it as school picture day – your dancer will be captured on screen for this memory; so, any extras are welcome.

  • Shoes:

    • Don't forget your dance shoes for all classes! If you are unsure of the style of shoes you need - email or stop by the desk

Additional Holiday Show Details:

  • To keep our Holiday Show performance to a manageable length, we have carefully selected a handful of routines to be featured.

    • All dancers (with the exception of our youngest Shining Stars classes) will appear in at least one routine.

    • Most dancers will appear in only ONE number, even if they take multiple classes.

    • Classes not featured in the show will continue to focus on building and refining their technique and skills throughout the season, ensuring they are prepared for a fantastic performance in our Spring Recital!

Holiday Show Class List
  • Centerstage will be providing any props or costume pieces that we will use during the performance.

  • We will be filming these dances during your dancer’s regular class times – there is no separate/out of class time required. Parents will not be able to watch during filming – it will be a surprise for when it is sent out to everyone during the holiday break!

  • We start learning these dances in November – attendance during those weeks before filming are very important for your dancers so they are able to learn their routines.

  • *New This Season: A non-refundable fee of $20 per dancer ($30 for families with multiple dancers ) will be charged for participation in the annual holiday show performance video. This fee contributes to production expenses and ensures that every dancer receives a digital download of all holiday show performances. The fee will posted and due in December 2025.
